Increase traffic to ur URL by adding ur website in directoties

A directory is a database of web sites, usually organized in categories (and often categories within categories), that users can use to find interesting web sites.

The contents of directories generally come from webmasters submitting their own sites (usually providing not only their URL, but also a Title and Description that the directory can use). Most directories will have an editorial staff who manually review such submissions.

You can improve your chances of being accepted into a directory, by:
Making sure your site is working and complete, before submitting.

Reading any guidelines about submission published on the Directory site.

Making sure the grammar and spelling of your submission is correct.

Taking a look at other sites listed in the directory, and trying to follow a similar style for your Title and Description.

Most directories do not like hype-filled sales-pitches. Instead, you should concentrate on describing your site accurately and concisely.

Only submitting after you have done all of the above, then make sure you submit to the correct category.
The two best-known general directories on the web are probably Yahoo! and DMOZ (also known as The Open Directory).

As your probably already know, Submission to the Yahoo! directory is not free (and even if you pay, they do not guarantee that you be listed), so we recommend that you check out their site first.

Submission to DMOZ is free, but they make no guarantees about whether your site will be accepted. DMOZ is staffed by volunteer editors so getting your site listed can take a long time (particularly if you submit to a category which doesn't currently have an editor - but you could also consider volunteering to edit that category). DMOZ is very important, because their data has been made available for use by other web sites - and you will find that many large and small sites do use it.
As well as the big general directories on the web, there are also many smaller directories, and also niche subject-specific directories (see Idea 4: Specialist Directories) that you can submit to. Being listed in all these places, is important, not only for any traffic you get directly from them, but also because it can help your link popularity in the Spider-Based Search Engines (see Idea 1: Spider-Based Search Engines). Obviously, listing in all these places can take a lot of time and effort (perhaps weeks!), so you may find directory-submission software such as Directory Dominator helpful with this task.
