Launchy is a nice little app to make your digital life easier.

Launchy is a free windows and linux utility designed to help you forget about your start menu, the icons on your desktop, and even your file manager.

Launchy indexes the programs in your start menu and can launch your documents, project files, folders, and bookmarks with just a few keystrokes!

How to use it??

Download the setup file from the link and install it in Your pc. It runs in the background. You can invoke it using alt+space key. Then just type any application name in the text box and launchy will do everything else for you. It will quickly open that application. You don’t need to remember exact name of the application. For example suppose you want to open Mozilla Firefox just type “mozilla” or “firefox” in the textbox and it will open firefox for you within a second. It is very useful for laptop users who don’t like to navigate using their mouse.

You can even use plugins with launchy to get more out of it.

HJSplit is a widely used file splitter and joiner. it’s a freeware and developed by freebyte.com.

If you are download junkie then you must have come across this tool. It is mostly used for splitting large videos.

The extension of splitted files will be *.*.001 , *.*.002 and so on.

If you are downloading a video split by hjsplit it will be having the extension like above. All you have to do is just download all the parts and keep them in the same folder. Now run HJSplit.exe and select join option. Browse to the file with extension *.*.001 and HJSplit will do the remaining for you. HJSplit is a “download and run” program. You don’t have to install it. You can split even 10 GB large files with HJSPlit. After joining the parts you can delete the split files(files with extension 001, 002 etc.)

Microsoft has made available a program to analyze and decrease the time it takes to boot to WindowsXP
The program is called BootVis

Uncompress the file.
Run BOOTVIS.EXE
For a starting point, run Trace / Next Boot + Driver Delays
This will reboot your computer and provide a benchmark
After the reboot, BootVis will take a minute or two to show graphs of your system startup.
Note how much time it takes for your system to load (click on the red vertical line)
Then run Trace / Optimize System
Re-Run the Next Boot + Drive Delays
Note how much the time has decreased
Mine went from approximately 33 to 25 seconds.

Here are the steps to disable start-up programs from staring with Windows

• Go to Start
• Click on Run
• In the Run box write “MSCONFIG” with out the quotes
• Click OK
• MSCONFIG window will appear
• Click on the tab labeled “Startup“

• Uncheck the programs you don’t want to start with Windows and  click  OK
• Restart the computer, once restarting is completed a small window will pop-up check the small box to avoid seeing this message again.
• Now the programs you disabled is not loading when Windows starts.
• That’s it
